Who are we?

President – Ann Herraman has held the office for more than ten years during which time the Society has worked strenuously to raise funds, support the new library and provide the standard of accommodation appropriate to preservation, collection and presentation of locally based historical material. Ann is completing a PhD in South Australian regional history. She works as a consultant and project manager in regional development and was awarded the SA Great Innovation Award, by the Department of Trade and Economic Development in 2008.

Vice-President and Treasurer – Jim Killick is an engineer by profession, and former Director of SA Water. He received the Adelaide Hills Council Civic Award for 2008 for his extensive work as Secretary of the Adelaide Hills Library Fund Raising Group which raised over $250,000 towards the technical fit-out of the new Coventry Library. Jim’s experience in government projects has provided the high-level skills required to steer the society into our marvelous new premises. As treasurer, Jim has also been instrumental in developing more sophisticated financial planning and management systems for the organization.

Secretary – Carol Moore is a computer systems professional who has brought a range of skills and commitment to the local history cause. Carol has also taken a lead role in bringing new systems into the History Centre and developing regular displays on topical subjects. She is also production manager of the Society’s principal publication, The Flinders Column.

Membership secretary – Jill Wotton.

Committee Members – Judi Foster, Liz Harfull, Frank Hurren,  Tony Stimson, Barbara Holbourn, Tony Moore,  Petera Atkinson, Lynn Cashen, Elizabeth Hansmen and Catlin Langford.

Our Appraisal Team –  the Society’s appraisal team is responsible for appraising donations and acquisitions prior to formal accession into the collection. Over the years the Society has received many generous donations of historical source material from members of the public.
